We are West Hull Community Radio, broadcasting under the name of Humber Wave Radio to Hull and the surrounding areas of East Yorkshire & North Lincolnshire on 106.9 FM.
We were first awarded a long-term licence by OFCOM in 2007 and this was extended in 2017. During 2022 we were granted a power increase to improve our FM coverage, and in 2024 we will be launching our digital radio service on Hull DAB.
Following the departure of Viking FM and KCFM, there are no longer any Independant Local Radio stations broadcasting from the area. Humber Wave Radio is your local station, for news, views, sport and the greatest hits from the 60’s through to the best of today.
We are a company that operates on a ‘not for profit’ basis. Managed & run entirely by volunteers, we engage with the local community, to provide a platform for all residents & groups to access broadcasting services, regardless of sex, ethnicity, religion or any other belief, or social standing.
We try to offer the warmest welcome to anybody who wishes to communicate through the medium of radio and the Internet, to help bring our community closer together. If you would like to be a part of this, please give us a call, drop us an email, or contact us via our social media channels. If you do not hear from us, please try again. Because we are all volunteers, it can be that we sometimes miss correspondence, and this is not intentional.
We are particularly interested in community focus groups, and our outside broadcast team regularly visit these sorts of community groups, where we give you a chance to reach out to the local community, and to potentially interact with other like-minded groups.
We also try to offer publicity to local community projects, and feature local events in our “What’s On Guide”, to help organisations to spread their word throughout the community.
We also look for support to help to run the radio station, and help us to cover the burden of cost. If you would like to find out more about how you can assist, then please also get in touch. We accept donations, and offer sponsorship opportunities for some of our programmes, so that we can continue our good work.
It’s not just about the broadcasting though; we want to be a part of a real community, and we hope to offer a warm welcome to anyone and everyone, regardless of what level of commitment they can offer.
Why not come and join us……….you never know where the journey may take you.
